St. Louis Man Faces Charges for Two Armed Robberies

Thurlester Johnson, age 44, has been charged with seven counts of first degree robbery four counts of first degree attempted robbery, eleven counts of armed criminal action, and four counts of first degree assault in connection with two robberies that took place in August.

In the first incident it is alleged that Johnson walked up behind four people in the 4500 block of Olive Boulevard and ordered all of them to drop their valuables, and they all complied. Johnson turned and pointed a weapon at the victims as he fled the scene. One of the victims then drew a revolver and fired five shots at Johnson, he fired back as he ran, and then got into a car and drove off. No one was injured in this incident.

The second incident occurred on August 22, on the 500 block of Broadway around 11 P.M. It is alleged that Johnson was standing near a fence and as five women walked by he displayed a handgun and demanded their purses and jewelry, and one of the five women continued walking. Two more women walked by Johnson and he showed them his gun and told them to give him their purses and jewelry, and one of the two women continued walking. After the incident the women walked north on Broadway until they were able to get help. Johnson fled the scene with another man in an SUV.
