  • Not Guilty Possession of Heroin & Resisting Arrest
    The Client was charged with Possession of Heroin and Resisting Arrest. The trial lasted 2 days and the jury returned a verdict of Not Guilty. We argued that the police planted the drugs on the Client and that he never possessed them. The jury believed our side of the story and acquitted my client.

    The Client was charged with Burglary 2nd Degree and Stealing Over $500. The trial lasted 3 days and the jury returned a verdict of Not Guilty on both counts. The state did not have any physical evidence against the Client and was attempting to convict him based upon circumstantial evidence.
  • Case Dismissed Drug Trafficking
    Drug Trafficking case - Client charged with drug trafficking based upon the amount of crack cocaine in his possession. Brent Sumner defended his client based upon an illegal search and seizure and the fact that the police planted drugs on his client. "Free casing" is a very real thing in the City of St. Louis and should not be tolerated. Mr. Sumner's client was stopped for no reason and the police stated they found 3 grams of crack cocaine on his client. During a preliminary hearing, Brent Sumner successfully cross-examined the police officers on the scene and was able to argue that the seizure was illegal and there was no probable cause for the arrest of his client.
